HELP SAVE OUR TRAILS!

Did you know that Hillsborough County has closed the Flatwoods/Morris Bridge/Trout Creek park areas (and bike trails therein) on Mondays and Tuesdays, and has limited times on other days to 9am-5pm? Did you know that a large number of the Park Rangers that maintain those parks for us are about to be laid off? Did you know that the County is also threatening to CLOSE THE PARKS FOR GOOD if their current budget crisis is not solved by the reduction in hours and ammenities?

Did you know that other parks, trails, and public places may be next?

Visit our Blog page @ http://cbebikes.blogspot.com/ for more information on these and other Cycling Advocacy subjects including upcoming public meetings that you can attend, and other ways that you can MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD! Please help us keep our parks and trails open for all to enjoy!

The CBE "Tip O' The Day"

Communication Is Key - The most important rule of group riding is good communication. Ideally, someone will explain the ride in advance pointing out any safety considerations such as rough roads, high-traffic areas, easily missed turns, etc. If no one seems in charge, ask people about the ride. Don't be shy. Sometimes there's no formal leader and the assumption is made that everyone knows what's going on simply because they've come out for the ride. This is sure to cause problems that could result in a crash. If you don't know, ask, and keep asking until you find someone who can tell you what's going on. There are always a few people who know and are willing to help and it can make a big difference in how much you enjoy the ride and how safe it is.
